Carly Castillon

California native and graduate of The Art Center College of Design, Carly Castillon began her career as a commercial illustrator and children’s book artist. Driven by her passion for oil painting, she heeded an inner call and broadened her horizons in plein air painting.

She has enjoyed great success as a plein air painter and portrait artist, winning numerous awards and featured in one woman shows. Today her paintings can be found in important public and private collections such as the Carlsbad Medical Plaza, where 15 of her large landscape paintings of San Diego landmarks hang in their permanent collection.

Carly thoroughly enjoys collaborating with her collectors to capture a memory on canvas, or bring to life a portrait or a furry friend. Painting from life in the great outdoors is where she can really experiment with light and color. Carly says she doesn’t miss painting conceptual illustrations for books and magazines, she just likes to see something new every day and paint it.
